A Podcast Clip Goes From Strange To Ugly
South African rapper, producer, and commentator Nota Baloyi appeared in February 2025 on “The Hustler’s Corner Podcast” with host DJ Sbu, where the talk moved from music and pop culture into a flat-out racist rant about white people. Baloyi claimed that white people are an “inferior species,” said they are not the same as black South Africans, and argued that Neanderthal ancestry makes them lower than others. That is not commentary, and it is not brave truth-telling. It is old-fashioned race poison dressed up like a TED Talk after somebody spilled coffee on the science notes.
The Science Claim Does Not Hold Up
Baloyi tried to sell his comments as science, but the basic facts do not support him. All living human beings are Homo sapiens. That is not a right-wing slogan, a left-wing slogan, or a campaign bumper sticker. It is basic human biology. Research has also shown that Neanderthal ancestry is more complicated than the old claim that Africans have none of it. A 2020 paper in the journal Cell found that African individuals carry more Neanderthal ancestry signal than once believed, due in part to migrations back into Africa from ancestral Europeans. In plain English, Baloyi’s attempt to rank races by ancient DNA is not science. It is prejudice wearing a lab coat from the Halloween aisle.
Baloyi’s Words Went Beyond Bad History
Baloyi also claimed white women are less suited to bear children than black women and said the white population is shrinking into its “last generation.” He then insisted he was not racist before saying, by his own wording, that white people are “just below human beings” and comparing them to an animal that must be trained. That “I’m not racist, but…” routine has never aged well, no matter who says it. Conservatives should be clear here. Racism is wrong when it targets black people, white people, Asians, Hispanics, Jews, or anyone else. We do not fix the sins of the past by giving new bigots a microphone and calling it progress.
Malema Rally Clip Adds Fuel To The Fire
The concern is not limited to one podcast guest running his mouth. In July 2023, Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, led a packed crowd at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg during the party’s 10th anniversary event in a chant of “Kill the Boer, the farmer,” while people in the crowd made gun gestures. Boers, also known as Afrikaners, are descendants of white European settlers in South Africa. The clip drew heavy attention online because it was not whispered in a corner. It was shouted at a major public rally, with political energy behind it. If a crowd in America chanted anything close to that about a racial group, every newsroom from sea to shining sea would suddenly rediscover moral clarity.

Selective Outrage Is Part Of The Problem
What makes this story so important is the double standard. In the West, people are often told that certain forms of racial hostility are “punching up,” “decolonization,” or some other fancy campus phrase meant to make hatred sound like homework. But dehumanizing language has a long and dangerous record, and it should never be waved away because the target is politically unpopular. South Africa has a painful history, and honest debate about land, crime, politics, and race is needed. But calling people subhuman or chanting about killing farmers is not debate. It is a warning sign, and decent people should say so without checking which group is being targeted first.
