Katherine Maher, the CEO of National Public Radio (NPR), recently appeared on PBS NewsHour to defend her organization’s blatant left-wing bias while ludicrously claiming NPR is a “non-partisan news organization.” Her desperate attempt to paint NPR as fair and balanced is nothing short of absurd, especially as the outlet continues to push progressive narratives while silencing conservative voices. Even more laughable is her accusation that President Donald Trump is infringing on NPR’s First Amendment rights by cutting federal funding—an action that simply holds the biased network accountable for its partisan agenda.
Maher whined during the interview, “It is a textbook example of viewpoint discrimination from a First Amendment standpoint… Essentially, by blocking funding to NPR and PBS, it is a form of retaliation against our organizations for airing editorial programming that the president might disagree with.” But here’s the truth: NPR has long abandoned any pretense of neutrality. From refusing to cover the Hunter Biden laptop scandal—a story of monumental importance—to consistently amplifying left-wing talking points, NPR has proven itself to be nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party.
Maher’s hollow defense—“We’re a non-partisan news organization. We seek to provide a range of different viewpoints…”—is easily debunked by NPR’s own track record. Where was this “range of viewpoints” when they ignored evidence of Biden family corruption? Where was their commitment to neutrality when they dismissed stories critical of the left? The reality is, NPR doesn’t want fairness—it wants taxpayer dollars to fund its liberal propaganda machine.
🚨NPR Chief Katherine Maher: Trump defunding Executive Order is “retaliation” — violates the First Amendment due to “viewpoint discrimination."

For years, NPR and its defenders have claimed that federal funding makes up only a small portion of their budget. If that’s true, why the hysterical panic over losing it? If liberal donors truly believe in NPR’s mission, they should have no problem stepping in to fill the gap. But deep down, they know their audience is a niche group of left-wing elites—not the American people at large.

President Trump’s decision to defund NPR isn’t an attack on free speech—it’s a necessary move to stop forcing hardworking Americans to subsidize media bias. The liberal media, including NPR, has spent years smearing Trump, pushing fake news, and suppressing conservative perspectives. Now, when they finally face consequences for their bias, they cry “retaliation.” It’s time to end the charade.
