Bronx platform video raises hard questions
A video from a Bronx subway platform is getting a lot of attention because it shows three NYPD officers struggling to hold one suspect as he argues, slips away, and then walks off. The clip is ugly for everyone involved, and it is hard not to see why people are worried about what is happening in New York City. When a single suspect can put a whole group of officers on their heels, the public starts asking a simple question: who is really in charge here? The answer should be obvious, but in too many big cities, it is becoming painfully fuzzy.
When crime loses fear, chaos fills the gap
The bigger problem is not one video. It is the culture behind it. For years, left-wing leaders have talked tough while pushing policies that treat criminals like misunderstood victims and police like the real problem. That is how you end up with bail rules that send repeat offenders back to the street and with officers who are expected to do more with less while being mocked at every turn. Criminals notice weakness fast. They do not read policy papers, but they do understand when the system is more likely to let them go than lock them up. That is not compassion. That is an open invitation to more disorder.
Fitness, standards, and common sense matter
The video also renewed debate about police fitness and hiring standards, especially in departments that have been pushed to meet political quotas instead of real-world demands. Police work is physical, plain and simple. Officers may have to run, wrestle, and control dangerous people under stress, often in tight spaces like subway stations. That is not a job for slogans or feel-good paperwork. It is a job for strength, training, discipline, and common sense. New York families deserve officers who can handle the job they were hired to do, and city leaders should stop pretending that lowering standards somehow makes the streets safer.
Three NYPD officers are unable to take down one thug at the Tremont Avenue subway stop in NYC. The thug falls or jumps down to the tracks, gets up on the other side, and walks away.
This after the suspect repeatedly saying, “Get the f*** off me!”

Guy wearing nothing but speedos outruns two female police officers like it’s nothing…until they finally hit him with the taser.
I don’t know what he did to deserve the chase, but this is hilarious. pic.twitter.com/AV463wU5FQ
