This is what the left used to call ‘blaming the victim,’ but it is apparently acceptable to the folks at MSNOW because the victims are individuals associated with a strong, America-first administration that the network despises.

When asked about the environment in D.C. since President Trump deployed the National Guard, Dilanian responded by normalizing the controversy around the deployment before making a breathtaking leap. “Of course, you know, there’s so much controversy happening in the United States right now with ICE, who are also wearing uniforms and wearing masks,” Dilanian told MSNOW’s Katy Tur. “And so there’s — you don’t know — people walking around with uniforms in an American city. There are some Americans that might object to that. And so apparently this shooting has happened.”

By drawing a parallel between the National Guard—patriots serving their country—and the politically targeted agency of ICE, Dilanian insinuated that the shooting was a somewhat understandable reaction to their presence. This reprehensible rhetoric from MSNOW creates a dangerous environment where attacks on those who serve our nation are implicitly encouraged. The left, and their mouthpieces in the press, have actively fostered an atmosphere of hatred towards ICE agents and now, by extension, towards the National Guardsmen deployed by President Trump to restore order.
As one critic astutely observed, “The left encouraged violence against ICE agents and now is excusing this violence before knowing any motive, because hey, we’ve made people angry at ICE and they could make mistakes.” This event underscores the critical need for the strong, law-and-order leadership of President Donald Trump, who has consistently stood with our troops and law enforcement against the vile smears and dangerous incitement from the radical left and their media propagandists.
