Former House Speaker Paul Ryan recently appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and faced fierce criticism over his stance on President Trump. Known for his opposition to Trump, the legendary Never-Trump RINO tried to discuss the agenda of President Trump’s incoming administration. However, the conversation took a heated turn with co-host Joe Kernan, who was not ready to overlook Ryan’s past indiscretions.
Ryan expressed a wish to “let bygones be bygones” and urged Americans to unite around Trump’s administration. Kernan, unsparing in his rebuke, challenged Ryan’s change in attitude. “So now you’re calling for unity,” Kernan said with palpable sarcasm. When Ryan confirmed this, Kernan sharpened his attack. “It would have been nice before the election,” he jabbed, adding, “The other thing I thought was funny was when you said, ‘Hey look, I want Trump to succeed.’”

Kernan continued by suggesting that Ryan’s voice echoed those of Democrats, which set the stage for laughter at Ryan’s expense. Ryan retorted that he was a conservative Republican supporting Trump on most policies, though admitting that “his brand of conservatism” occasionally diverged from Trump’s. Kernan delivered another blow, emphasizing the stark choice during the election: “It was always a binary choice (between Harris and Trump). And a vote not for Trump was a vote for Kamala Harris.” Laughing, Kernan added, “Can you imagine!” highlighting the incredulity of not supporting Trump.
In a bid to demonstrate common ground with Trump, Ryan spoke on policies like immigration, taxation, and regulatory issues. However, Kernan offered a parting piece of advice, advising Ryan not to forsake “the good for the perfect,” a mistake Kernan implied Ryan made in the last November election.
Previously, The Gateway Pundit reported Ryan had deemed Trump “unfit for office” back in July, vowing not to support him in the 2024 Presidential election. In discussions with fellow Never-Trumper Neil Cavuto, Ryan partly ascribed his withdrawal of support to the events of January 6, 2021. He remarked, “That’s a part of it. I think it’s a contribution of factors. I think it really is just character…if you’re willing to put yourself above the Constitution… that makes you unfit for office.”
The liberal media has often criticized the authenticity and commitment of conservative figures who dare to oppose President Trump. Yet, as Trump’s tenure moved forward, it was evident that the only realistic pathway for preserving the core values of conservatism was through unwavering support for his leadership.
