Vice President J.D. Vance didn’t hold back in his scathing rebuke of Senate RINO Mitch McConnell after the outgoing Republican leader once again betrayed President Donald Trump by opposing a key Pentagon nominee. McConnell, the sole Republican to vote against Elbridge Colby’s confirmation as Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, proved yet again that his loyalty lies with the Washington swamp rather than America First priorities.
Mitch’s vote today—like so much of the last few years of his career—is one of the great acts of political pettiness I’ve ever seen. https://t.co/Qg6eAOqW4J

Posting on X, Vance slammed McConnell’s move as pure political pettiness:
“Mitch’s vote today—like so much of the last few years of his career—is one of the great acts of political pettiness I’ve ever seen.”
McConnell, who has repeatedly undermined Trump’s agenda, attempted to justify his opposition by attacking Colby’s focus on shifting U.S. national security strategy toward countering China in the Indo-Pacific—a top priority for the Trump administration. In a feeble statement, McConnell whined:
“The prioritization that Mr. Colby argues is fresh, new, and urgently needed is, in fact, a return to an Obama-era conception of a la carte geostrategy.”
He went further, fearmongering that focusing on China would somehow “embolden our adversaries,” claiming:
“Abandoning Ukraine and Europe and downplaying the Middle East to prioritize the Indo-Pacific is not a clever geopolitical chess move. It is geostrategic self-harm that emboldens our adversaries and drives wedges between America and our allies for them to exploit.”
This is the same McConnell who rubber-stamped endless Ukraine funding while doing nothing to secure America’s own borders. His obstructionism is nothing new—he also voted against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services, Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, and Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary. Fortunately, his tantrums are increasingly irrelevant. Colby was confirmed 54-45, with three Democrats breaking ranks to support Trump’s pick.
McConnell’s days in the Senate are numbered. After a series of embarrassing health episodes, speculation is growing that he may not even last until his planned 2026 retirement. While no one wishes ill health on him, his departure can’t come soon enough for conservatives tired of his backstabbing and weakness.

President Trump and Vice President Vance, meanwhile, continue to push a bold, America First agenda—whether McConnell likes it or not. While the old guard clings to failed globalist policies, Trump and Vance are ensuring that China, not Ukraine, remains the top priority, that our military is led by patriots, and that the Deep State’s grip on Washington is finally broken.
