Well, folks, it’s that time of year again—the Super Bowl, where we used to tune in for football but now get a mandatory lecture on social justice before the first play. And leading the charge in this annual cringe-fest? None other than the Commissioner of the NFL himself, Roger Goodell, the man who talks out of both sides of his mouth so fast, it’s a wonder his head doesn’t spin right off.
This year, Goodell is doubling down on the “importance” of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) in the NFL—except, here’s the thing, DEI in football is about as real as a unicorn riding a skateboard. The only thing that matters in the NFL is if you can perform. If you can catch, run, and hit, you’re on the field. If you can’t, you’re cut. It’s that simple. There is no woke hiring quota for quarterbacks, no affirmative action for linebackers, and no mandatory diversity initiatives for wide receivers. It’s a league built purely on performance, which is why over half the players are Black. Not because of DEI, but because they’re the best at their job.
But that won’t stop Goodell from pretending otherwise.
Goodell’s Latest Act in the DEI Clown Show
During his pre-Super Bowl press conference, Goodell, with his trademark smugness, assured reporters that the NFL’s DEI efforts are “fundamental in trying to attract the best possible talent.” Oh really, Rog? Because I’m pretty sure NFL teams already have one criterion for hiring players: Can they help us win?
This isn’t some Fortune 500 boardroom where clueless executives push diversity quotas to make the New York Times stop calling them racist. This is football—where guys the size of refrigerators run at full speed trying to break each other in half. If Goodell really believed in DEI, why isn’t he making sure every team has a 5’6”, 140-pound guy playing defensive end? Oh, that’s right—because merit matters.
Then there’s the Rooney Rule, the league’s one actual DEI policy, which forces teams to interview at least one minority candidate for head coaching jobs. Notice I said interview, not hire. Meaningless, empty, corporate virtue-signaling at its finest. No one’s handing out participation trophies in the NFL, but Goodell still wants to pretend the league is some social justice utopia.
The “End Racism” End Zone Disappears—But Not the Woke Nonsense
Oh, but don’t worry—Goodell is a man of compromise! This year, the “End Racism” slogan is being removed from the end zones. In its place? “Choose Love” and “It Takes All of Us.” Because nothing screams unity quite like reminding the audience of their sins before kickoff.
I mean, seriously, who is this even for? Are they worried some fan is going to see “End Racism” in the end zone and suddenly have a life-altering revelation? “You know what? That slogan changed my heart. I take back everything I’ve ever said—Roger Goodell cured racism today!”
Give me a break.
And Now… The Black National Anthem? Are You Kidding Me?
But if there’s one thing that really gets the blood boiling this year, it’s the Black National Anthem stunt.
For the fifth straight Super Bowl, the NFL will be forcing us to sit through “Lift Every Voice and Sing” before the actual National Anthem. And if you don’t stand for it? Well, get ready to be labeled a racist.
Let’s be crystal clear: There is ONE National Anthem. That’s it. No racial subcategories, no separate-but-equal nonsense. We are one nation, and we sing one anthem. Period.
This isn’t about celebrating Black history. It’s about division. It’s about the left pushing their racial obsessions into every corner of American life, including sports—one of the last remaining places where unity used to matter.
Even some Black conservatives are calling this out for what it is: a cheap political stunt designed to stir up more racial division. Meanwhile, Roger Goodell and the NFL elite pat themselves on the back for being so enlightened while they rake in billions off the backs of players who couldn’t care less about this nonsense.
And let’s not forget—Donald Trump is attending the game. You think this isn’t a deliberate move to poke the bear? The left is absolutely terrified that Trump is back in power and rolling back their precious DEI programs, and this little anthem stunt is their way of making a statement. But guess what? America is sick of it.
Final Thoughts
Roger Goodell can talk about DEI all he wants, but it doesn’t exist in the NFL because it doesn’t need to. Football is the last true meritocracy left in America. You either earn your spot, or you don’t. That’s it.
And as for the Black National Anthem? It’s a joke. A divisive, unnecessary, politically motivated joke. If you want to honor Black history, great. But you don’t do it by replacing our country’s one and only National Anthem. That’s not unity—that’s segregation.
Now, let’s get back to what actually matters: watching a great game.
