Once again, the liberal media is recycling a thoroughly debunked smear to attack President Donald Trump—this time, targeting his heartfelt and patriotic speech at the West Point commencement. The View’s Joy Behar, never one to let facts get in the way of a good anti-Trump narrative, dredged up The Atlantic’s widely disputed 2020 story claiming Trump disparaged fallen soldiers as “losers” and “suckers.” The story, authored by Jeffrey Goldberg, was immediately refuted by multiple firsthand witnesses, including then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former National Security Adviser John Bolton, and Trump aide Zach Fuentes, who were actually on the trip in question. Yet Behar, in her typical fashion, ignored the truth and doubled down on the lie.
“What I don’t understand is, according to [John] Kelly, [Trump] called our soldiers losers and suckers,” Behar ranted. “So why would they invite him to speak at West Point and wearing the [MAGA] hat was a political move, also. It’s politics, the hat is politics. It’s not about anything but that. So he’s supposed to be not political at West Point or Arlington Cemetery and there he is being political and rambling. [CNN’s] Jake Tapper needs to do another book, because he was rambling, he’s running around, I see pictures of him running into walls.”
Behar’s hypocrisy is staggering. While she accuses Trump of being “political” for wearing a MAGA hat—a symbol of American patriotism—she and her co-hosts routinely use The View as a platform to spew left-wing propaganda. Worse still, she clings to a story that has been discredited time and again, proving that the liberal media would rather peddle falsehoods than acknowledge Trump’s unwavering support for the military.
This isn’t the first time Behar has been caught spreading misinformation. She was forced to walk back her baseless claim that Elon Musk supported apartheid, only to be humiliated when evidence emerged that Musk had attended an anti-apartheid concert. She also embarrassingly suggested Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election—another fantasy the left can’t seem to let go of.
Meanwhile, Trump delivered a powerful speech at West Point, honoring the cadets and emphasizing leadership, duty, and love of country—values the left routinely mocks. The liberal media’s obsession with smearing Trump only highlights their desperation as the 2024 election approaches. Instead of celebrating a commander-in-chief who has consistently prioritized the military, they resort to recycled lies and petty attacks.
