Paul Pelosi Charged After Allegedly Striking Parked Car and Driving Off

Paul Pelosi Faces New Trouble in Napa County

Paul Pelosi, the 86-year-old husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was reportedly charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Napa County, California. Authorities said the crash happened Friday afternoon on Yountville Cross Road. According to the Napa County sheriff’s office, Pelosi was driving a brown convertible when it struck an unoccupied parked car. The parked vehicle suffered major rear-end damage, which is not exactly the kind of Napa souvenir anyone hopes to bring home.

Deputies Say the Driver Kept Going

A witness told deputies the driver briefly stopped after the crash, then drove away. Deputies later came upon a CHP patrol vehicle behind a brown convertible that was partly blocking the roadway on Yountville Cross Road. Officials said Pelosi was behind the wheel, and his car had significant damage to the right front side. The sheriff’s office said Pelosi admitted he hit something, but said he did not know what he had hit, so he kept driving until the vehicle became disabled.

No DUI Suspected in This Crash

Authorities said no DUI is suspected in this latest incident. That detail matters, especially because the Pelosi name brings instant political heat and plenty of raised eyebrows. Still, the basic facts remain serious enough without adding extra drama. A parked car was hit, the driver allegedly left the scene, and law enforcement later found the damaged convertible unable to continue. For regular Americans, that usually means paperwork, insurance headaches, and a very uncomfortable talk with law enforcement.

A Previous Crash Still Hangs Over the Story

This is not Paul Pelosi’s first high-profile car crash in recent years. In May 2022, he was arrested after a crash involving a Jeep and later received three years of probation. Court documents from that case said he had red, watery eyes, slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet, and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Reports also said he handed officers an 11-99 Foundation card with his identification. Now, with another crash under scrutiny, voters can decide whether the powerful ever seem to get a smoother road than everyone else.
