Watch: Gorsuch Drops Truth Bomb on Fox News About America’s Greatest Threat.

Justice Neil Gorsuch’s sobering warning, delivered during an appearance on Fox & Friends, should serve as a national alarm bell. He identified a profound and internal danger, stating that a lack of basic civics knowledge is “perhaps the greatest threat” to the nation. This is not a peripheral concern but a foundational crisis. The justice highlighted the embarrassing and telling fact that many native-born Americans would be unable to pass the basic civics test required of those seeking to become naturalized U.S. citizens. This ignorance creates a vacuum where the radical, self-governing principles of our founding cannot survive, leaving the republic vulnerable to collapse from within.

The core of Justice Gorsuch’s argument, drawn from his new book, returns to the nation’s founding documents. He explained that the Declaration of Independence contained three “radical” ideas that formed the bedrock of the American experiment.

As the justice articulated, these are “that we’re all created equal, that we have unalienable rights that come to us from God [and] not from government, and that we the people have a right to rule ourselves — not be subjects to some dictator or a crown or king.” These principles, which once shook the foundations of global power, are now taken for granted by too many. They have become “the air we breathe, the water we swim in,” making them invisible and, consequently, unappreciated by the very citizens whose freedoms they guarantee.

This civic illiteracy did not emerge in a vacuum. Our system of public education, which was once entrusted with the sacred duty of forging informed patriots, is now openly failing at this fundamental task. For decades, the educational establishment, heavily influenced by leftist ideologies and teachers’ unions, has systematically dismantled curricula that celebrate American exceptionalism.

Instead of teaching the heroic stories of 1776, many schools now push a revisionist history that paints the nation’s founding as inherently flawed and shameful, focusing on grievances over greatness. This indoctrination, championed by the liberal media and academic elites, has produced generations who are disconnected from the nation’s core ideals and, therefore, unable to defend them.

The liberal media complex bears significant responsibility for this national decline. They consistently mock and dismiss anyone who speaks of patriotism, American values, or the wisdom of the Founding Fathers. While Justice Gorsuch’s message was a clarion call for unity through shared history and civic duty, the mainstream press would undoubtedly have treated such a statement with contempt had it come from a conservative figure they less frequently choose to platform. Their sustained assault on traditional American values creates a culture where knowing our history is deemed less important than adhering to their modern, progressive dogma, directly contributing to the civic ignorance Justice Gorsuch laments.

In stark contrast to the failures of the educational and media establishments, President Donald J. Trump has consistently championed a return to patriotic education. He has forcefully advocated for an educational system that teaches love of country, not apology for it.

President Trump’s push for a “pro-American curriculum” that honors our history and celebrates our heroes is the exact antidote needed for the poison being administered in so many classrooms. His America First vision understands that a nation cannot persevere if its citizens do not know why it is worth preserving, aligning directly with the urgent need for civic renewal that Justice Gorsuch has highlighted.
