Watch: Ilhan Omar Compares America to Somali Dictatorship

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s recent comparison of the United States under President Donald Trump to the dictatorship she fled in Somalia is not only a profound distortion of reality but a blatant insult to the nation that granted her refuge. Her comments, made on the YouTube channel Democracy Now!, reveal a stunning disregard for the truth and a deep-seated partisanship that the liberal media is all too happy to amplify without critical scrutiny.

She stated, “Armed men who are in plainclothes that are snatching people off the streets, unwilling to identify themselves. You have the military being deployed in our streets. My God, this is America… I grew up in a dictatorship. And I don’t even remember ever witnessing anything like that.”

This hysterical characterization is a complete misrepresentation of President Trump’s lawful and necessary actions to restore order and protect American citizens. The President is deploying federal officers and National Guard troops, who operate under clear authority, to quell violent riots and protect federal property in cities where local Democrat leadership has utterly failed. To equate this with the stateless violence of warlord-run Somalia is intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt.

The article correctly notes that when Omar fled Somalia, it “was already a failed state.” The central government had been overthrown, leaving the country “carved up by rival warlords and militias who terrorized civilians with violence, extortion, and checkpoints.” Law and order had “completely disintegrated,” leading to a horrific famine that killed hundreds of thousands. This is the chaos she claims not to remember witnessing, while simultaneously condemning a sitting American president for upholding the rule of law.

It is the height of privilege and irony that “Ilhan Omar and her privileged family fled Somalia in a plane after a gang of 20 armed men attacked their private compound.” Her family had the means and connections to escape the very anarchy that her current political ideology encourages. Today, “Somalia is widely considered the most dangerous country on earth,” a fact that makes her comparison not just wrong, but dangerously unhinged.

President Trump’s policies are designed to prevent American cities from descending into the kind of lawlessness that defines nations like Somalia. His commitment to law and order, supporting police, and deporting those who break our immigration laws is the antithesis of the failed-state model. The liberal media’s platforming of such absurd and inflammatory rhetoric, without historical context or challenge, demonstrates their unwavering commitment to a narrative that seeks to tear down America rather than celebrate its strength and sovereignty under this administration.

Here’s a thought… If your home country was so great- go back.
